An Important First Step in the Development of Your Child's Artistic Expression

The goal of the Weekend Art Program is to teach children new ways of seeing the world around them and to provide them with fundamental tools and techniques so that they can convey their new vision through drawing and painting.

The emphasis of the Weekend Art Program is on learning techniques and tools that artists use in painting and drawing. Students will study perspective, proportion, shadow, and color theory and will learn to use brushes, charcoal, paints, and drawing papers.

As students begin to understand artistic techniques and the ways to use painting and drawing tools, they will create their own portfolios and will participate in various art competitions, such as the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest.

We believe that by learning the basic techniques and tools of painting and drawing students will develop confidence in their creative abilities and skills for future artistic endeavors.
