Studies show that early
musical training, especially piano lessons, can actually boost a child's
brain power! Researchers from the University of California at Irvine
have found that 3-5 year olds who take piano lessons fare 35 percent
better in school than other children in their age groups-even those
taking computer lessons. In fact, some researchers say that children
as young as two years old should take music lessons. Studies have
also linked active music making with better language and math ability,
improved school grades, better-adjusted social behavior, and improvements
in "spatial-temporal reasoning," which is the foundation
of engineering and science.
instructors' teaching philosophies strongly agree with these studies.
The primary goal of our music programs is to empower our students-not
only in their ability to understand and discover the personal rewards
of music-but through mastery of one field, to gain confidence in their
talents and abilities in other areas of endeavor. We strive to develop
a student's musical talents by teaching him the discipline of technique
and the creativity of interpretation.
